Windows Server 2003 – Black logon screen

When you want to logon on a server, if some disk problems have happened recently, the logon screen can be displayed with a black window and black fields (although functional):

Actually, it’s a problem due to an initialization to 0 of color parameters in the windows registry.

Thus, at this location: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors , all the parameters have now a value of 0 0 0.

The solution is to create a .reg with the following information provided of a fresh installation of Windows Server 2003. Then, a restart will be required in order to have the values taken into effect.
